THE YOGA DECK allows anyone – from beginners to experts and teachers – to make rejuvenating postures, breathing exercises, and meditations part of daily life. If you’re short on time, you can pick one or two cards from this illustrated deck. For a more guided experience, follow one of the suggested sequences provided. Or create your own routine that focuses on your specific needs. Unlike a book, these portable cards travel anywhere and can be used anytime. It’s the perfect way to release stress, increase strength, flexibility and energy, and achieve complete relaxation.
THE YOGA DECK features a wide array of the most traditional and the most beneficial physical postures, breathing exercises and meditations as well as an om card, designed to incorporate chanting into your session.
The Posture Cards
The Posture Cards and the Warm-up Cards each feature a simple illustration of the pose on the front; the reverse side describes how to do the pose and lists its benefits. If it is known, the Sanskrit name of the yoga posture (asana) is also included. Should you wish to do a series of poses, you may choose to follow the numbered cards in sequence. Please remember that the deck is designed so you can select cards at random. If your time or energy is limited, let your spirit be your guide and select just a few cards. A little yoga is better than none at all!
Breath, Meditation and Om Cards
Each Breath (pranayama) and Meditation (dhyana) Card features a lotus blossom, the symbol of simplicity and perfection. The reverse describes a simple breathing exercise or meditative thought, designed to help you relax and recharge. The Om Card, which features the Sanskrit symbol for this powerful sound, offers simple directions to help you use the healing energy of sound and vibration.
