As we dive headlong into the holiday induced crazies, here’s a simple way to take a pause:
With eyes closed or a soft gaze, bring your hands together in namaste, prayer position, at your heart center. Smile.
Slowly and deeply inhale & exhale through your nose. Let your exhalation be slightly longer than the inhalation (think “exhalation = relaxation”). Continue as long as you wish, focusing on the breath and the following affirmation:
I am grateful for the miracle of my breath.
What Else Are You Grateful For?
As you continue with these deep, slow breaths identify more things — big or small — for which you are grateful!
Inhale: I am grateful for …
Exhale: I am also grateful for …
How does focusing on gratitude make you feel? Remember: It’s impossible to be unhappy when you express gratitude.
Try to begin and end each day with some deep breathing and gratitude. 🙏
“Every mindful breath, every seed of gratitude, nourishes our life and the world.”
— Thich Nhat Hanh
